Photo of the Day: Lights Out for Commack Waldbaums

The supermarket on Vanderbilt Parkway to close in early March.

After announcing earlier this month that it would close, the Waldbaum's on Vanderbult Motor Parkway in Commack has posted a sign advertising it's going out of business.

The store will officially close on March 3, according to the sign posted in the front of the store last week. Until then, shoppers can find items and groceries on deep discount.

Commack's other Waldbaum's store, located in the Mayfair Shopping Center, will remain open.

Some locals have speculated that a Fairway market or Uncle Guiseppe's wil take its place, although neither stores have been confirmed.

That store should have closed long ago. It was never kept clean and food never looked or smelled fresh.

Agreed! Although I'd go there if I just needed to pick up 1 or 2 things quickly.
