Target Gets Supermarket in October

The Veteran's Memorial Highway retailer in the King Kullen shopping center is being renovated to include a market.

will open their supermarket – PFresh – on Oct. 17, human resources representative Nicole Shivers said, part of a Target-wide renovation process.

"By 2012, all Target stores will provide the 'one-stop' shopping experience. Bay Shore and Riverhead both received their supermarkets a year ago and Setauket is also currently under construction. Commack south will get their supermarket within the next year," Shivers said.

The construction takes place at night, which means hours have not been changed. Shivers said the renovations will change the entire look of the store. As of right now, there is a white tarp in the middle of the clothing section – that will become new dressing rooms. The grocery section will be expanded to create PFresh, in the Pharmacy corner of the store.

Shivers said the vendors for food products will change, perhaps including allergy sensitive foods as well. The store will also get new freezers, a produce section and updated racks throughout the store as part of the renovation.

Fresh meat, produce, frozen food and supermarket staples – milk, bread and eggs – will all be provided for customers as of Oct. 17.

As of right now, Target's hours have not expanded, but Shivers said Target in Bay Shore expanded its hours after the supermarket opened and that may be the case at the Commack north location.
