Whiz Kid: MATHCOUNTS Team Dominates Suffolk Competition
The Middle School team earned the top spot on the Suffolk level and had 3 individal victories. They'll next compete in the statewide competition in March.

Whiz Kids: Mehtaab Sawhey, Jessy Lin, Scott Massa, Chantel Yang and Alinur Rahim
Accomplishment: The team won first place in the Suffolk County MATHCOUNTS competition, sending them to the state MATHCOUNTS competition in Troy, NY in March.

We kick off our Whiz Kid series with a group of real-life math whizzes. In addition to securing the top spot as a team on the county level, Commack's own MATHCOUNTS earned several individual victories, including Mehtaab Sawhney snagging first place, Jessy Lin placing third and Scott Massa placing fourth in the individual segment of the competition.
We wish the team and faculty advisor Thomas Shea the very best of luck at the statewide competition next month.
