New Businesses Open in Commack

A look at what residents should know about today in Commack.

Good morning, Commack. Here's  a look at what residents should know about today.

Summer has proven to be a busy time for business in Commack. New retailers, restaurants and a truck inspection site are all taking shape as fall rolls in.

Here is a look at the new places in town:

Indie
Indie, a sister boutique to Emily Sky geared for teens and young women, celebrated its grand opening Thursday at the Peppertree Commons in Commack.

Drive-Thru Pizza, Wings and Italian Ice
It's a first for Commack, and perhaps Long Island: a drive-thru pizza, wings, hot dog, and Italian ice joint on Commack Road, where customers can get appetizers, dinner and dessert all in one stop.

The drive-thru opened June 1 and has been a hit ever since, said owner Scott Rosenberg, who started Lorenzo's Pizza and Toxic Wings, two of the restaurants open at the drive thru. The other two eateries are Nathan's and Ralph's Italian Ices.

Childrenswear
Childrenswear Center, a discount clothing store for kids, is now settled into Peppertree Commons, where Deeny's Kids used to be. Every item in the store is $6 or less.

Chico's
Chico's at the Mayfair Shopping center in Commack is now open. The retail company started its construction on the 2,971-square-foot space in May. There are two other Chico's locations nearby including at the Tanger Outlet Center at The Arches in Deer Park and the Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove.

C2 Education
C2 Education, located at 6300 Jericho Turnpike in Commack Towers, celebrated its grand opening June 18. The learning center started as a private tutoring service run out of a Harvard University dorm room and now has more than 110 locations across the nation, including its latest in Commack.

Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza
Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza opened in April at the Peppertree Commons. NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino, who is a partner in the business, visited for the opening, in which $10,000 were donated to his Autism charity.

There are several new businesses coming to Commack this fall as well, including Miller's Ale House, a chocolate shop in the Peppertree Commons shopping Center, Lowe's Home Improvement, Tony Roma's, Jo-Ann Fabrics and others.
