Bristal Assisted Living Residents Remember Shirley Temple

Members of The Bristal  Assisted Living’s Great Actors Seriesclass recalled the impact of Shirley Temple on their lives as they were growing up. The women, in their 80’s and 90’s, say Shirley Temple introduced them to music and dance. Unlike the troubled young stars of today such as Lindsay Lohan, Miley Cyrus and Brittany Spears, Shirley Temple understood that she was a role model even before that term came into vogue.

Shirley Temple was not only a star on the screen, but won  a generation’s admiration when she became a diplomat in the 1960’s and for the courageous manner in which she publicly dealt with breast cancer and a mastectomy in 1972, at a time when the illness was not spoken about publicly.
