The Garden City Community Church's 27th Annual Christmas Tree/ Bake Sale took place in December. Buyers from all over came to buy the perfect live Christmas tree, delicious bakery goodies and items from vendors.

The hit band, Brass Confusion played festive Christmas carols. The Tree Sale proceeds went to the Youth Mission Trip with Next Step Ministries this coming summer.

The funds from the Bake Sale were donated to the Commack-based Marty Lyons Foundation. After a series of personal events that altered his life, football star, Marty Lyons established this foundation with the encouragement of family and friends, including another former New York Jet, Ken Schroy, who is a member of the Garden City Community Church. the MLF is a not-for-profit which grants wishes to children aged three to 17 who have been diagnosed as having terminal or life-threatening illnesses. What makes the foundation unique is that it will consider granting a second wish to a deserving child. For more information, please visit www.martylyonsfoundation.org or call 631.543.9474.

"We feel it is necessary to raise funds for the Mission Trip, and at the same time, provide a service for a local project as well,"  said Rev. Lynn Sullivan, Associate Minister.  "Marty Lyons Foundation helps children and families in our area dealing with a life-threatening illness daily, and to let them know they are not alone, is important to us."
