10 Places to Party on New Year's Eve

Though Commack does not have many clubs, there are plenty of nearby places to ring in the New Year.

Whether you just want to hit the bar for a few drinks with friends, or want a multiple course meal at a ritzy restaurant, we have a place for you to party on New Year's Eve.  We even have a daytime option for those of you looking to forego a big party for a small family celebration.

1. Napper Tandy's:  For New Year's, Napper Tandy's of Smithtown is selling $50 tickets that include an all-you-can-eat-and-drink five hour bar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., hor d'oeuvres, a champagne toast, and party favors, as well as dance music provided by the DJ.

2. The Crazy Donkey and Silk:  The Crazy Donkey of Farmingdale and Hauppauge's own Silk are coming together to offer a deal on tickets that are good for both clubs.  Tickets cost $20 each, and include a 3 1/2 hour top shelf open bar and midnight champagne toast.  Both clubs have HD TVs so you can watch the ball drop in Times Square, and each club is featuring three DJs spinning the most popular hits of the year.  For those partying into the early morning, Silk and the Crazy Donkey also offer a continental breakfast with ticket purchase.

3. Katie's of Smithtown: Enjoy the laid-back atmosphere of Katie's, but look for the resident ghost at Smithtown's infamous haunted bar.  Ring in the New Year here with no cover charge, a free traditional champagne toast, and DJ music all night.

4.  Blue: Head out to the fashionable restaurant/bar, Blue, in Blue Point, which is hosting a cocktail gala.  Doors open at 8:30, and the cover charge is $30 for a complimentary top-shelf open bar until 10 p.m., breakfast at 1 a.m., and a sushi and lounge menu available until 1 a.m.  Music will be spun by local artist DJ Loki.

5. Mulcahy's: From 9 p.m. to 12 a.m., one can party it up with bottled beer and mixed drinks for $2.50 each, and dance to music by dueling DJs Jeremy and Toolbox Mash.  Not to be outdone, the folks at Mulcahy's will start the New Year with Jager bomb toasts.

6. : Enjoy hot wings in a variety of 15 flavors, or stay for a full dinner and enjoy an eight-station buffet and champagne toast.  Open bar and VIP packages are available at the Blacksmith Tavern in Smithtown, where parties of ten or more with advance tickets receive a complimentary bottle of Moet for the midnight toast.  This party will be DJ-ed by Mikey BA and a special guest.

7. : Hang out at this hip East Setauket venue, where music is the focus of the night, featuring the bluesy rock band The Jett Blackk Heart Attack and the Rhino.  The doors open at 9 p.m., and the cover is $10, which includes a free midnight champagne toast.

8. :  This upscale restaurant in Port Jeff is hosting a Music of the Night Masquerade Ball from 8 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., with a DJ from Tommy's Tunes.  For $125 per person, you get not just free champagne like the other venues, but you can select from their impressive list hor d'oeurves, antipasti, and main courses like homemade ravioli and chicken valentino, all listed on the menu here

9. Brickhouse Brewery and Restaurant: Come to the brewery that received second place by New Yorkers for the best beer selection on Long Island, where you will of course have a complimentary midnight beer toast with a cover charge of just $10.  Listen to the folk/pop sounds of Dr. Overtone at 9 p.m., followed by Funkin A and the Forensics and Hank Frank and Bible Johnson.

10. :  If you have young kids, party as a family at the Suffolk Y JCC, which is hosting a New Year's Eve bash from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Call in advance to RSVP.  Tickets are $60 for members and $78 for non-members.
