5 Events Happenings This Week

Learn about the history of the area's historic houses or visit a farmers' market.

Take a moment this Monday to consider attending one of these five local events this week in Commack: 

1. Learn the History Behind Four Walls: Smithtown's Historic Houses, which teaches about the prominent residential architecture in the Town of Smithtown, from the Smithtown Historical Society on Tuesday from noon to 4 p.m. 

2. The Smithtown Board of Zoning Appeals meets twice during most months to listen to appeals. If you have something to bring before the board, here's your chance to be heard 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Eugene A. Cannataro Senior Citizen Center.

3. Head to Whole Foods to pick up fresh produce and baked goods at their indoor Farmers' Market, featuring local farmers and artisans on Wednesday from noon to 4 p.m. 

4. Meet author Alyson Richman at the  Wednesday as she reads her latest book "The Lost Wife," the 2012 Long Island Reads Selection. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing after the talk on Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
