5 Events to Hit This Weekend

Paddle your own canoe or attend a fundraiser for a Commack resident in need of help.


Head to downtown Northport for live music at the foot of Main Street. On July 13, Caroline Doctorow and The Steam Rollers, Folk and Americana performers, will take the stage. Make sure to bring a seat. 

Come join other locals in the Nissequogue River Canoe Trip on Saturday, put together by the Smithtown Recreation Department. If interested you need to be at the Paul T. Givens County Park between 8 and 9 a.m. People on the trip are set to return around 2 p.m. The trip costs $40 per canoe.


Brush up on your life-saving skills with an Adult CPR class being offered by the at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Register in advance, course is $35.

The Hauppauge-based studio presents "a grown-up story about growing up" in "13." Interested in seeing the performance? You could check it out Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 3 p.m. Tickets are $20.


Commack resident be getting together at Ciao Baby 8:30 p.m. Sunday to hold a fundraiser for Rasmin Yasharim, a 22-year-old Commack resident who has been diagnosed with stage three lung cancer. Tickets are $100 per person.
