On Thursday, we asked Commack Patch Facebook fans to comment on "What do you want to see happen in Commack in 2014?"

Here are their wishes for 2014:

  • To have local eye sores, such as the space next to Commack Car Wash and Northport Ford knocked down or renovated.
  • More unity within the community.
  • For Miller's Ale House to open soon.
  • An indoor skate park.
  • Lastly, nicer comments on Patch. Let's all be more civil to one another.
What's on your 2014 wishlist for Commack? Post in comments section below.

To get a decent Chinese and Italian place in Commack, and to fill that eye soar of an empty space at the end of Mayfair Shopping Center with something useful to the community.

Beautify the crossroads at Jericho and 347.....loose the cannon of war (looks like we are an air raid outpost) - do some landscaping - maybe a memorial wall for all those who have served and sacrificed from Commack.......

Yes - and I would love an old fashioned sit down Chinese restaurant - MISS Fei Wong that used to be in Mayfair.

I agree about the crossroads. It should be the centerpiece of our town, especially since we don't have a main street.

to have Marion Carll Farm up and running so that people can go and see where the legend and matriarch of Commack lived.

Danielle L: I disagree with you. Our main street is that nasty stretch of Jericho Turnpike out in front of the Commack Motor Inn. I bet more people on Long Island could tell you how to get to the Inn than could tell you how to get to Main Street in Kings Park or Smithtown.
Commack Community Association January 11, 2014 at 04:44 PM
Anne - The Commack Community Association is working toward that very goal. The MC farm will be a topic at the next meeting on 1/27 with representatives of local government attending. We encourage you, your friends and neighbors to join the Commack Community Association. Go to WWW.CommackCommunityAssociation.org and join today !!

I agree with Zen Cat and Danielle. I would love to see a nice sort of "downtown" Commack. Make it easier for our kids to walk to the Crossroads (347 & Jericho) from the high school. Our "downtown" Commack is where a lot of people come to shop from all over - East Northport, Northport, Ft. Salonga to name a few. They should continue the divider that they are installing on 347 in Happauge/Nesconset down through 347/Jericho. They have also installed walkways & bike paths to that section of 347.

Recognize the important and lasting influence of Marion Carll by renaming North Ridge Primary School in her honor.

(1) Commack will elect a seven member BOE. (2) The 2014-15 budget process will be based on actual expenditures in 2013-14. (3) No increase in the 2014-15 tax levy relative to the 2013-14 tax levy . (4) The Commack BOE will publish actual costs to the taxpayer of the IB program. (5) John King and Merryl Tisch will resign, and Common Core will…fade away.

Commack had a school named Marion Carll. It was knocked down to make way for the Ruby Tuesday/Pep Boys.
