5 Things To Do This Weekend

Come out to support the Commack Elite, watch the community menorah lighting or meet Santa.

Looking for something to do with the kids this weekend? Whether you want to get in the holiday spirit or simply get outdoors, we've got suggestions for you.

Come to at 7 p.m. Friday to see a pep rally for all Commack cheerleading teams. There will be performances by the middle school, JV and Varsity teams. In addition to the high-energy show, there will be refreshments and raffles for sale. All proceeds will benefit the Commack Elite on their trip to Disney World.

Santa, Rudolph and Frosty are coming to visit the children of Commack on Saturday, with a little help from their friends at the Commack Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Not only will they stop to say hi, they'll also collect goliday toys for needy children. Check the CVAC website to see what time they're coming to your neighborhood.

Celebrate Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights at the on Saturday, Dec. 17. Join in on a special Hanukkah concert featuring rock singer Sheldon Low and latkes, dreidle games and a community menorah lighting beginning at 6 p.m. The concert begins at 7 p.m.

Meet Santa and have your picture taken with him in the on Saturday at 10 a.m. Create your own holiday portraits and cards or have them copied to a CD.

Take advantage of the unseasonably warm December weather and head outdoors to Sunken Meadow State Park for a 3-mile hike. Meet Dennis at the far end of Field 4 on Saturday at 10 a.m.
