5K Run/Walk to Help Prevent Drug Abuse

Commack Coalition of Caring to hose third annual Red Ribbon Week race Oct. 26.

The Commack Coalition of Caring will hold its third-annual Red Ribbon Week 5K Run/Walk Oct. 26 at Commack High School.

The Coalition is made up of residents focused on helping to prevent substance use and abuse through educational programs and activities in and around the Commack community.  The group aims to provide access to the tools and resources needed for children and teenagers to make healthy decisions across their lifespans.

Runners will take off at 9 a.m. and a free children’s half-mile fun run will take place at 8:30 a.m.

More than 300 runners and walkers participated in the event last year. The CCC also awarded two scholarships to Commack High School seniors. The run will feature music, awards and refreshments.
