#81- Take The Kids to Chuck E. Cheese's

Play, eat, and play some more.

It's summer time, which means kids have more energy and free time than they have for the past 10 months. Rather than letting them unleash that youthfulness on your house, take a quick drive to Chuck E. Cheese's and let them go nuts.

, located at 2115 Jericho Turnpike not too far from the Mayfair Shopping Center, has the trifecta of kid entertainment: games, food, and rides.

First, the rides. Chuck E. Cheese's has a miniature merry-go-round, along with several even gentler rides that gradually go up and down. If your child would rather move about, the slides and ball pit should keep them occupied.

After your kids have expelled their first wind and umpteen play tokens, sit them down for a slice of Mr. Cheese's pizza. If pizza doesn't strike their fancy, Chuck E. Cheese also serves chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, salads and refillable soft drinks. And there's no shame in sneaking a slice for yourself.

Once your kid has filled up on snacks, they'll be hankering for some more fun, but with less running around on that full stomach. Point them in the direction of the arcade area. Chuck's has all the classic games adults probably played when they themselves were rambunctious tykes. Those include Skee-Ball, the moving basketball hoop, and dozens of others. The better kids play, the more prize tickets the machines pump out, which can be accumulated and redeemed for all sorts of prizes.

At the end of the day, your kids will be wiped out of energy and hopefully have a new stuffed animal or toy of some kind to show for their efforts. And you'll have a game of your own to play: See how fast they can fall asleep on the car ride home.
