Build a Menorah at Home Depot
Grab your hammer and head to Home Depot, 5025 Jericho Turnpike in Commack, to build your own menorah to celebrate the holidays on Dec. 9 at noon. Home Depot will be providing suppplies, and best menorah wins a prize. Better yet, there's no charge.
Hanukkah Family Day
Celebrate the holidays as a family with this free interactive event at the Suffolk Y Jewish Community Center that brings the audience back in time to experience the joy of Hanukkah on Dec. 9 at noon. It will include drumming, candle lighting, art projects and latkes.
Olive Press
Chabad of Mid-Suffolk invites you to learn how olive oil is made with a free hands-on demonstration Dec. 9, at 4:40 p.m. and 5:25 p.m. Learn more about the miracle of Hanukkah and why oil is so special at the Commack Jewish Center, 83 Shirley Court, Commack. Light refreshments will be served.
Third Annual Menorah Parade
Show your Jewish pride by joining the Chabad Hebrew School on Dec. 12 at 4:30 p.m. for the Third Annual Menorah Parade. The shool will drive around in limos and party buses with menorahs on their roof, advertising the holiday parade of lights. Parade will start at the Commack Jewish Center, 83 Shirley Court in Commack.
Latke and Vodka – An evening for Adults
Chabad of Mid-Suffolk is opening its doors to Jewish adults to celebrate the holidays with an event of latkes, appetizers, vodka, music, menorah lighting, dreidels and more. Cost is $20 a person, $36 per couple. RSVP on Facebook.com/ChabadMidSuffolk.com
Kings Park Jewish Center
Celebrate Hanukkah with the Kings Park Jewish Center as they light a menorah Sunday at Kings Park veterans plaza at 11 a.m. Immediately afterwards, potatoe pancakes will be served at the synogogue with a musical performance by the Klezmer band. The Kings Park Center is located at 94 E. Main St. in Kings Park.
