Commack Honors 9/11 Victims and Responders

Community remembers those who perished in the WTC attacks.

Commack residents gathered Wednesday night to remember those killed in the Sept. 11 attacks.

The Commack School District hosted its annual 9-11 candlelight ceremony on the high school track, remembering and paying tribute to those who were killed on Sept. 11, 2001. 

Wreaths by the families of those killed, the fire department and police were laid at the base of the memorial.

The community also recognized its first responders from the National Guard, FDNY, Commack Fire Department, NYPD, Port Authority Police Department, Commack Volunteer Ambulance Corps. and Suffolk County Police Department.

The Marine Corps. League Detachment Post 792 conducted a 21 gun salute, followed by prayers for the victims, as candles burned in the crowd.
