Dec. 19 is Baking, Meditating, and Singles

Take a look into events at your place of worship for fun and informative things to attend this holiday season.

Do you have a teen who loves to bake?  Then RSVP for a bake-off at Commack, while you run your holiday errands or check out our other events.  Know of something that's happening that we didn't list here?  Add it to the calendar.

1. :  is hosting its first annual teen bake-off from 1 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., when judges will be evaluating entries in the categories of cookies, cakes, pies, and holiday desserts.  If you or your teen is interested in signing up, be sure to RSVP and look over the rules.

2. : Enjoy a night of dance lessons, music, and refreshments with fellow singles at the .  The dance is from 7 p.m. to 9:45 p.m., and registration is just $14 per person.

3. :  Join others at the in a meditative service at 7:30 p.m., where the heavier feelings of the holidays will be discussed.

4. The Sound of Music:  See the classic musical performed on stage at the John W. Engelman Theatre in Northport at 7 p.m.  Tickets are $60, but be sure to order soon.

5. Night on the TownThis Heckscher Museum of Art exhibit features photos, drawings, and paintings reflecting various interpretations of nightlife by artists such as Man Ray, Arthur Dove, and Larry Rivers.  The exhibit is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
