Friends of the Commack Library Celebrate Kids Day
Despite a little rain, plenty showed up for the annual kiddie event.
The Friends of the celebrated Kids Day on Saturday afternoon, and had a strong turnout despite the soggy weather.
The grounds of the library were packed inside and out with local kids and their families who came out to enjoy the various activities and presentations on display.
Library Director Laurie Pastore and Dorian Hartman, President of the Friends of Commack Library, hosted the event and were pleasantly surprised by the turnout.

"Even though we have a rainy day, our wonderful community still came out to give their children a day of enjoyment," said Pastore. "We've been doing this for several years, and we always see nothing but smiles on the children's faces."
A magician performed for everyone, inviting a few lucky participants up on stage to perform tricks. , of Commack, performed a demo of their training techniques twice during the day.

Two representatives from held an educational animal presentation, displaying a variety of pets including a guinea pig, bunny and ferret. Also on hand were the students of Rock Underground, a Bellmore-based music school that is opening a second location in Commack in August. The children also enjoyed face painting, arts and crafts, a drive-in theatre created by the Dive-In Theater, carnival games and a special Sportime presentation.
The and also showed up to the annual event, and members of the Suffolk County Police Department held a special giveaway.
