This day trip makes you feel more than a few miles away with a real Main Street, major park, shops and cafes. Take a morning stroll in Heckscher Park; its natural setting exudes the tranquility you are missing at home. The Tulip Festival, a deluge of flowers and great family fun is Sunday, May 1 this year—that sounds like a great escape if we ever heard one. Hit the park on a weekday to enjoy the blooms without the weekend crowds.

After your walk in the park, head up the road to . Located next to Bin 56 (better suited for happy hour or date night), the sunny spot will satiate any sweet or savory cravings. Short rib hash is decadent, as are the unique French toasts and pancakes.We promise, you won't leave hungry.

Continue to indulge your senses at Scentsational on Main Street (25A).  This unique shop opened in 1980, and offers a wide variety of fragrances, lotions and gifts. You could spend a whole day sniffing sweet, floral and even edible oils with the possibility of creating a personal blend.

If you are looking for a creative outlet, check out on Gibson Avenue. This studio offers art, writing and photography classes. Their daytime workshops end just in time to get moms home for the afternoon homework and activity rush. Huntington Village is so close, but a world away.
