Jan. 28 is Fencing, Storytime and Cross Country Skiing

Thank God it's Friday (and not snowing). Celebrate another week in the books with a local event.

At least if we had to get snow, it didn't come over the weekend. Otherwise you might not be able to get out and do one of these events.

1. : Ask any 2-year-old and they'll you that nothing is more fun than storytime. So bring your little one to the at 10 a.m. and let them enjoy a trip to Imaginationtown.

2. : Bring your dueling weapon of choice (no guns, please) and cheer the fencing Cougars on in this road match against Huntington. Both boys and girls teams face off starting at 5 p.m. at .

3. : While we don't necessarily need more stories of wild winter weather—just listen to Al Roker or Sam Champion—it's never a good idea to pass up storytime. Stop by the at 4:30 p.m. for wild winter weather stories for older kids.

4. : Did your child shovel your entire driveway before the neighbors even got out of bed Thursday? Does your kid bring home so many A+ papers from school that you bought a second refrigerator to put them on? Then nominate him or her to be our next Patch Whiz Kid. Each week, we'll pick an individual child or teen to highlight. Send your suggestions to our editor Kaitlyn Piccoli at Kaitlyn.Piccoli@patch.com with the following info:
