Meatballs Fall From the Sky at Hoyt Farm

Smithtown's Hoyt Farm's annual summer movie showcased Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs on Friday.

Under a clear sky and slightly chilly weather Friday, local families flocked to Hoyt Park for a large-screen viewing of "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs."

"It was a great chance to get kids out on a Friday night," said Andy Fioramont, who came to the showing with his wife and two children.

Despite a chillier than normal evening, first-timers and Hoyt Park regulars came out for the annual event, which is sponsored by the Town of Smithtown Recreation Department.

Gail Leopold and Robin Marvelli both brought their children out for the show as they have in years past. "We've come to a few and this," said Leopold. "We come to the park often and the kids especially love the events here."

Norma Rosenberg and her son came over from Nesconset for their first Hoyt Park film last night. "This is our first time doing this," she said. "We came to a kids concert a few years back but nothing else lately."

Though the Hoyt Park events are publicly posted on the town's website, many simply heard of the event by word-of-mouth.

"This is our first time here," said Bill Tappin. "A friend of mine told me about it at work the other night and we thought it sounded like a good idea."
