From Kings Park: Community Fundraiser for Board Trustee Raises Questions

A fundraiser held earlier this year for Kings Park Board of Education trustee Liz Barrett, has raised questions in regard to whether the event violated the board’s code of ethics.

The spring fundraiser was held to raise money for legal fees incurred by Barrett after the board brought about a petition with the New York State Commissioner of Education in June 2012 that could have removed her from the board amidst allegations that she shared confidential school information with an undisclosed third party.

From Hauppauge: 7-Vehicle Crash Closes Motor Pkwy

A crash involving seven vehicles shut down Motor Parkway in Islandia from Veterans Memorial Highway to the Long Island Expressway Tuesday morning.

According to police, the driver of a fence truck lost control of the vehicle's brakes and rear-ended another car that was stopped at a red light on Motor Parkway at 8:43 a.m. The truck forced the vehicle into another car, which set off a chain reaction involving seven vehicles in total, one crashing into the other from behind.

Two drivers suffered minor injuries and were taken to St. Catherine's Hospital.

From Smithtown: Three Cactus Salons Take In T. Carlton's Staff, Honor Gift Cards

Cactus Salons are preparing to welcome new customers seeking their favorite stylists formerly at a Smithtown spalon. 

Karen Vito, marketing director for Cactus Salon & Day Spas, said roughly 20 staff members of the former T. Carlton's Spalon in Smithtown have become Cactus Salon employees and that number is growing daily.
