When Patch asked if Kings Park's Main Street needs a facelift, residents didn't hesitate to answer loud and clear with a resounding yes. 

In fact, they were so enthusiastic "yes! yes! yes!" was a repeated cry.

Case of the Missing Rotary Plaque Solved

Jinkies! It looks like the case of the missing rotary plaque has been solved. A town plaque reported to be missing was actually being cleaned and repaired by town workers.

The Smithtown Rotary Club reported the plaque missing last week with Suffolk County police. The wheel shaped plaque, which is placed on the corner of Lawrence Road and Main Street was actually in the hands of the town's Parks Department

Farmers Market Open For Business

The Hauppauge farmers market celebrated its grand opening Thursday with a line up that will make taste buds dance. Teachers Federal Credit Union hosts the market in its parking lot, located at 102 Motor Parkway. Vendors sell locally grown produce, baked goods, jams and jellies, freshly-made crepes, seafood and more.

THREE VILLAGE

New Alternative Education System on Horizon in Three Village

A new alternative education program is set to replace Ward Melville High School's FOCUS and P.M. school programs beginning in the 2013-14 school year. Those two programs currently address the educational needs of students who for one reason or another find it difficult to succeed in traditional classroom settings. Structurally, the Three Village Academy would provide small class sizes; it would rely on collaboration among staff, students and parents; and it would use curriculum and teaching methods “that are relevant to students, complement their life experiences, and build on their strengths.”
