Small Plane Lands on Rt. 231A small plane landed on Route 231 in Babylon Village at around 1 p.m. Thursday.

A Suffolk County Police Department spokeswoman said a report of small plane landing on the roadway's southbound shoulder came into the department at around 12:53 p.m. The plane landed near the John Street exit, north of Montauk Highway.

Cops: Substitute Teacher Had Sexual Relationship With Student
Suffolk County police have arrested a Mt. Sinai man whom they say had a sexual encounter with a 16-year-old student earlier this year while working as a substitute teacher at Eastport South Manor High School.

Sheraton Gets Town's Approval for New Hotel, But Holds Off
Sheraton Long Island will hold off on building a new hotel in the Hauppauge Industrial Park, despite waiting more than a year for the town's approval. 
Smithtown Town Board approved the Sheraton's proposed plans to build a four-story hotel, the Springhill Suites Marriott, off Motor Parkway in Hauppauge on April 25. The hotel chain has no plans to move forward with construction at this time.   

Police Dog Helps Track Port Jefferson Station Pair Charged With Larceny
Canine Officer John Mallia and his dog, Blue, helped track down two alleged Port Jefferson Station quad thieves early Tuesday morning. According to police, Jonathan Delrio and Ray Pena, of Port Jefferson Station, were charged with fourth degree criminal possession of stolen property and fourth degree attempted grand larceny, both felonies, for allegedly attempting to steal a quad and possessing a stolen motorcycle after Officer Malia and Blue tracked the suspects for two miles.
