Parents Raise Money for Child with Craniofacial Disorder

Bruce and Stacy Kelin will use proceeds to pay daughter's medical bills.

Dozens gathered at Butterfields Restaurant in Hauppauge Sunday to raise money for Hannah Klein, a 6-year-old Commack student who suffers from Treacher Collins Syndrome, a rare genetic craniofacial disorder.

Her parents, Bruce and Stacy, organized the fundraiser to help fund a new hearing aid for Hannah and other out-of-pocket medical expenses for the next two years.

More than 50 people, including family, friends and business associates attended the fundraiser, which featured food, music and a magician. The Klein family also received donations from guests who could not attend.

"The fundraiser was a success," said Bruce Klein. "It was a pleasant surprise to get all the donations and support that we did."

The event marks the first fundraiser the Kleins have held for Hannah. Bruce has participated in a number of charity events in the past, including a benefit with Larry Hoff of Channel 11 News, which raised more than $10,000 for the National Foundation for Facial Reconstruction
