Power Being Restored to Commack

Less than a hundred residents are without power Thursday afternoon.

Severe weather overnight on Wedsnday knocked out power to much of Long Island, including Commack. However, most Long Island Power Authority customers had their electricity back Thursday afternoon.

LIPA reported that 1,608 customers were without power in the Town of Smithtown as of 7:30 a.m. Thursday. That number was down to 514 by 10:30 a.m. the same day. In the Town of Huntington, 8,273 LIPA customers were powerless as of 10:30 a.m., including 289 in Commack.

By 4 p.m. Thursday, 81 residents in Commack were still powerless.

More than 13,000 customers are without power throughout Suffolk County, as of late Thursday morning. That number went down to 4,760 by 4 p.m.

The National Weather Service reported gusts of 60 mph, which had the possibility of bringing down tree limbs or whole trees.
