Question: Should Taxpayers Foot The Bill For Irene Clean-Up?

Clean-up costs built into Smithtown's proposed town budget for 2012.

Patch reported last week that Smithtown has proposed a that charges residents close to $1 million to cover clean-up costs from Tropical Storm Irene.

The increase in highway funds, which would cost taxpayers roughly $19.90 per household, is to replenish the surplus for 2012.

How do you feel about a possible tax increase?
