Safe Summer Nights Return to Hoyt Farm

Town of Smithtown teens invited to supervised activities at Hoyt Farm Nature Preserve on Tuesday night.

Commack teens can head out to party on a Tuesday night this summer without raising their parents' worst fears.

Smithtown Youth Bureau will host the first night of Safe Summer Night Programs at Hoyt Farm Nature Preserve in Commack on Tuesday, from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Admission is free.

Safe Summer Nights offers teens from Kings Park, Commack, Hauppauge and Smithtown an opportunity to hang out in a supervised, drug-free and alcohol-free environment on June 30, July 15 and 30, and Aug 13. Attendees must be enrolled in middle school and older. No one will be allowed to enter after 7 p.m.

Activities offered include volleyball, basketball, horseshoes, bocce, arts & crafts, karaoke, games and competitions. There are also themed nights that will feature special activities.

For the first time, Smithtown will also host a Pool Night on July 15, from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m., at Smithtown Landing Country Club offering teens the chance to splash away.

Safe Summer Nights is sponsored by the Smithtown Youth Bureau, in partnership with the Smithtown Parks Department, Recreation Department, and Department of Public Safety.

Volunteers are needed to run the event. Call 631-360-7595 or email kdevito@tosgov.com to volunteer and high school students can apply to receive community service credits.
