Shelter Animal of the Week: Meet Josie

Josie is a soft Rex rabbit who was found hopping around Hempstead before being taken in by the Long Island Rabbit Rescue Group.

Josie was recently found roaming around Hempstead by two good Samaritans who saw the need to bring this adorable rabbit into a warm and safe home.

They called the Long Island Rabbit Rescue Group, and a volunteer was able to safely capture her. Josie’s fur was dirty and her ears were full of ear mites that she developed from living outside. It is evident that she has not always been a stray, as she has a tattoo on one of her ears.

Since she has been taken in by LIRRG, Josie has been cleaned up and her fur and ears are now in pristine condition. Josie is a velvety soft Rex rabbit with white fur and brown spots. She is incredibly affectionate and enjoys being held, as shown in the picture of her with a LIRRG member. Now, she is looking for a forever home where she share her love, as well as feel safe and secure.
