Shelter Animal of the Week: Meet Margaret

Margaret is a large bunny who was formerly tested on at a laboratory before the facility was shut down and she was brought to the LIRRG.

Margaret is a large adult New Zealand rabbit who was brought to the Long Island Rabbit Rescue Group when the laboratory where she was “working” was closed.

Since she had had little human contact, she was a bit shy at first, but with the help of her foster mom Margaret has begun to come out of her shell as she waits to be adopted into a forever family.

“On her first day at my house, Margaret cowered in the corner of her pen trying to make herself invisible. As the days went by, she started to come up to me when I came near the pen,” said her foster mom.  Now, she says that Margaret loves to be petted and go nose-to-nose with her for attention, and she describes Margaret as “such a sweet girl.”
