Shelter Animal of the Week: Meet Sisters Lucy and Sally

Lucy and Sally came from the same litter and are now both up for adoption with the League for Animal Protection of Huntington.

Lucy and Sally are two-year-old pit bull mixes who have fallen on hard times lately.

The two came from the same litter and were raised together, but their owner felt they could not care for them, and thus brought them to the League for Animal Protection of Huntington.

Lucy is a zest-filled, exciting pooch who loves to toss her own toys into the air to catch them, and also enjoys searching for buried treasure underwater in the kiddie pool. She loves to sit and be pet, and she has already learned such commands as “sit,” down,” “give,” “leave it,” “wait,” and “drop it.” Always looking to her master for direction, she walks well on a leash and is still looking to learn more commands.  Lucy longs to go outside and play, but sadly, she spends most of her day confined in her kennel.

Sally was adopted a few months ago, but was recently found walking the streets as a stray. She was abandoned through no fault of her own, as the shelter found out that her second owner simply did not want her anymore. Sally is also very affectionate, and loves the company of humans. Well-mannered and obedient, she is much like her sister, and loves to have a game of fetch.

Lucy and Sally have each blossomed into their own unique dogs, and  would not mind being adopted out into separate homes. They are both now housetrained and spayed.

Both would do best in a home with children over the age of 10 and without cats. The ideal owners for Lucy and Sally would be experienced dog owners who are active and have large fenced-in yards.

To contact the League for Animal Protection about Lucy or Sally, or to inquire about any of their other dogs, call their dog department at 631-757-9373, or email them at LAPdogz@msn.com.
