A guide to the activities happening at your local library.

If you are still reminiscing on your St. Patrick's Day festivities, fear not, as the Irish spirit is not gone yet. Come to , where this Sunday you can go to an afternoon concert featuring Irish musicians and Irish music historian Mick McCormack. There are also plenty of spring-themed activities to bring the young ones to, so take a look at our guide and mark your calendar for this week at the library.

Monday, Mar. 21

Activity Time – 18 to 35 months old
Time: 11:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Description: Sit with your child and enjoy stories, songs, and finger plays.

Dancercize/Toning
Time: 4:15 p.m. – 5:15 p.m.
Description: Sign up for this class that meets twice a week and includes low-impact dance and toning exercises. Be sure to wear comfortable exercise attire and bring a towel, mat, water, and dumbbell weights.

Parent/Toddler Workshop
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Description: Sign up for this five week program where you can enjoy music, crafts, puppets, and puzzles with your 18-35 month old.
Location: Community Room

Girls Night Out! Do-It-Yourself Home Improvement Overview
Time: 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Description: This workshop is for new or existing homeowners (men or women) who want to learn more about doing simple repairs around the house, including basic carpentry, plumbing, and effective energy saving tips.

Wednesday, Mar. 23

AARP Tax Assistance
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Description: AARP members can receive free, quality assistance with personal income taxes. Please bring with you a copy of last year's tax return, your W2 form, 1099 forms and any other information concerning your income and expenses.  Be sure to sign up at the circulation desk.

Thursday, Mar. 24

A Sparkling Afternoon Tea
Time: 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
Description: Have a relaxing afternoon drinking tea and sampling finger sandwiches and scones while tea expert Margaret Johnson, author of Tea & Crumpets: Recipes and Rituals from European Tearooms and Cafes, discusses the history of tea.  Please bring your own teacup. There will be a nonrefundable $5 materials fee at registration.

John Engeman Theater at Northport
Time: 2 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Description: The John Engeman Theater at Northport is presenting the musical Cabaret for library patrons.  After the performance, there will be a unique “talk-back” session where audience members can ask the cast questions.  Registration must be done in person at the circulation desk.  Tickets are $55 per person, and theatergoers must provide their own transportation to and from the theater.
Location: Offsite – John Engeman Theater at Northport

Cookies in a Jar: 6th – 12th grade
Time: 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Description: Students can decorate their own glass jar and fill it with all of the dry ingredients to make chocolate chip cookies and oatmeal cookies at home.

Friday, Mar. 25

Are You Game?
Time: 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Description: Join friends and neighbors every Friday for an afternoon game of bridge or mahjong.

Saturday, Mar. 26

Springtime Surprise: 3 Years – Pre-K
Time: 10 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.
Description: Help your child create a wiggly worm puppet and a green garden to live in under the guidance of Jeanne Hall.
Location: Community Room

Spring Flyers: K-2nd Grade
Time: 11 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.
Description: Join Jeanne Hall to create your own flag decoration with streamers, butterflies, flowers, and other spring décor.
Location: Community Room

Sunday, Mar. 27

Sunday Afternoon Concert
Time: 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Description: Mick McCormack will teach Irish history through music with performer John Corr. Corr, a member of Paddy Doyle’s Boots, will play guitar, banjo, and tin whistle to bring back the tunes of Ireland’s past, and McCormack will play bodhran and provide context for Corr’s music.
