Robert Mayer's wife and sister embraced each other Friday morning, as tears streamed down their cheeks, before friends and neighbors embarked on a search party to find the missing local man.

Car Forced Into Commack Diner, Driver Flees
A parked vehicle was forced into the front of Premier Diner in Commack early Friday afternoon when another driver crashed into the car, forcing it into the building. The driver then, took off.

Wife of Missing Local Man: 'I Just Want Him Home Safe'
It was exactly two weeks ago Friday that Ida Mayer spoke to her husband about planning a trip to Italy and their upcoming Father's Day plans.

That was the last time they spoke before he went missing from their Dix Hills home June 14.

"We were talking about our son's concert the next day, which he never would have missed. Then he said goodbye, I love you," she recalled. That was the last she heard from him.

Traffic Light Approved For Lowe's Building
Concerns about potential road congestion where a Lowe’s home improvement store in under construction in Commack, may be mitigated, as the Smithtown Town Board unanimously approved an agreement with Suffolk County to install a traffic light at Crooked Hill Road and Garet Place.

Cooper Hails DOMA Ruling
Former Suffolk Legis. Jon Cooper, who served parts of Commack and East Northport for 10 years, hailed the Supreme Court ruling striking down DOMA as a "breathtaking decision. It's an amazing, awesome day."
