Billy Joel Tickets Few and Far Between

Fans complain that tickets weren't available minutes after online sale opened.

The Paramount has a succinct explanation for why tickets to the Billy Joel concert were next to impossible to buy Tuesday.

Tickets, 1,500 of them, went on sale at noon Tuesday for the Wednesday night performance. Eager fans began complaining almost immediately that they were unable to buy them just a few minutes later.

But the Paramount replied to questions from Patch with this:

  • Total capacity is 1,555 people
  • Tickets were only available through Ticketmaster
  • They were sold in pairs
  • So 750+ pairs would have been available
  • We have 28,000+ Facebook Fans and an e-mail database of 52,000+ plus local media announcements
  • Sales went exactly as expected.
Many fans said tickets started quickly popping up on Stubhub, the website for secondary ticket sales.

"We could have sold 20 Billy Joel concerts in a row," a Paramount representative said.

The concert is set for 8 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m.
