"I feel extremely blessed to see my album for sale. It's crazy that I am now in the same market as people I am inspired by. Although I'm not quite on their level yet, being associated with iTunes is a gift itself," Mayer said.

Mayer beat out other solo vocalists to win MSG Varsity's Talent Show this spring. He entered the competition on a whim, having been singing for less than four years.

His performances in the competition included covers of "Straight From the Heart' by Brian Adams and "I Need a Lover" by John Mellencamp. One thing that stood out about Mayer was his pink ukelele, an instrument he bought to help raise awareness of breast cancer while performing after witness's his mother's own battle against the disease.

That ukelele is now featured in the cover art of his album.

For winning MSG Varsity's Talent Show, Mayer received a two-day professional studio experience including the opportunity to work with an award-winning produce to cut a demo CD or video, and create custom-designed cover art. The prize package also including a professional photo shoot.

"I can't thank the community enough for voting for me in the MSG Varsity Talent Show and providing me with the opportunity to create this single. The song really has a message near and dear to my heart and I encourage everyone to listen," Mayer said.

Mayer's single "True Like Me" album will also become available for purchase on Amazon and Spotify.
