North Fork Patch Local Editor will reach out to the family to award the prize for being the first ever Patch King of the Holiday Lights.

was a close one. Amazing displays in Shinnecock Hills, Bellmore, , Farmingville and also picked up a sizable amount of community votes. We thank all of the competitors for being beacons of the holiday season on Long Island.

For us at Patch, celebrating the wonders that come out of our communities is one of our favorite charges as your source for hyper-local news and information on Long Island. And we promise 2011 will be filled with many more fun contests like this one.

Happy New Year.

Dear North Fork Friends, Neighbors and Patch Readers... instructions were quite clear - no fine print either! I'm quite happy for the Voekel family and wish them well in the LI competition - less often is more! This winner has captured the essence of the simplicity of North Fork life - hopefully others on LI will appreciate that we are after all on an island and remember their roots.

Agreed! Less is sometimes more and that display was the perfect combination of simplicity and beauty and a wonderful nod to our local traditions and surroundings. Taste is, and always will be, a subjective thing. I think it was a perfect choice!

This is a perfect example of our current voting system. People don't go out and vote but then feel the need to complain over who gets in office. Remeber this is November folks and get out and vote!!!

I agree with Barbara, very well done.
