Twilight-crazed Teens Create Shirts for "Team Jacob"

From Red Velvet cake to DIY t-shirts, Twi-hards eagerly prepare for the premiere of Twilight: Eclipse.

"We're Team Jacob, see our shirts," Alexa DeFazio said at 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a half-hour before the midnight premiere of the latest film in the teen vampire saga, Twilight: Eclipse.

Karyn DeFranco, Jessica Machey, Nancy Baione, Alexa DeFazio and Olivia Carroll came to Commack Cinema from East Islip, with the help of Caroll's mom, to see the film.

"We couldn't get tickets anywhere else, and we're, like, fans so we had to see it tonight," the girls said together. "We made the shirts last night, we're so excited."

Suzy Schubert, of Commack, echoed their excitement.

"It's opening night, you have to see it. We just watched Twilight: New Moon to re-cap what had happened," Schubert said.

Katie J, Schubert's friend, also of Commack, had "read the books," so she had some idea of what to expect.

"I want to see what they put in and what they took out. If I hadn't read the books, I'd probably want Bella and Jacob together, but I know what happens. You can't pick sides or teams if you read the books," Katie said.

Dressed in Eclipse t-shirts and armed with cameras, Regina, Denise, Arielle, Nicoletta, Helen and Dominique began "preparing" for the premiere at 5 p.m.

"We ordered shirts, we had red velvet cake, and a party – with life-size cut–outs. It was great, we're pumped. We didn't read the books, but Regina did so she knows what happens. I'm Team Jacob," Denise said, as she motioned to her temporary Jacob Black tattoo.

Fans packed into the theater at 11:00 p.m., to get their preferred seats, pick up tickets and get their copies of Hush, Hush, a New York Times bestselling teen book in the same vein as the Twilight saga. After an hour of movie trivia and previews, Eclipse premiered to sighs, screams and excited giggling.
