#73- Play With Your Food At Izumi

Hibachi and sushi are on the menu at this Japanese eatery.

There's a reason restaurants have their food prepared behind closed doors and away from diners: When you're paying money to be waited on and have a meal cooked for you, would you want to see the chef frantically preparing food and shouting at assistants?

The short answer: No. The long answer: No, unless you're at a hibachi restaurant. And for diners looking for a side of showmanship with their meal, there's Izumi.

The menu at Izumi aims to conquer your appetite by land and by sea, serving up hibachi and sushi.

Izumi's hibachi offerings consist of chicken, a variety of steaks, and numerous seafood options. Items can be ordered individually or in combinations (bring a friend and split the Izumi Extreme, with chicken filet mignon, shrimp, scallops and lobster). All hibachi orders come with soup, salad, vegetables, fried rice, and shrimp, not to mention cooking theatrics and the never-gets-old onion volcano.

If you're hankering for food that isn't cooked, Izumi still has you covered. They include: maki rolls, hand rolls, sashimi, a la carte options and house specialty rolls so round you'll have to eat each piece in pieces.

Parties and events can be booked in advance, and the well-stocked and colorful bar make Izumi a great after-work environment, too.
