Chase Bank Manger Vows Main Street Branch Will Return

Flood damage to the Chase branch downtown was “extensive,” according to branch manager.

Of the many businesses on Main Street still cleaning up from the storm, Chase Bank is one of them, but branch manager Meredith Festa says they will be coming back soon.

“The Chase branch in the village has extensive flood damage,” Festa told Patch by email. "They are repairing everything, and will be reopened as soon as possible."

In the meantime, the staff from the downtown branch has been holed up in the Chase branch across from John T. Mather Hospital at 60 North Country Road and another one in Setauket untill their home branch is back up and running.

“My staff and I miss everyone and can't wait to be back in town,” she said.

Festa said customers can call them at either (631) 331-6534 in the Port Jefferson branch or (631) 941-3800 in the Setauket branch. Chase also has a special care line for customers affected by the storm set up at (888) 356-0023.

“We had to split up the team due to space, but are committed to our customers,” she said. “I will be in the Port Jefferson location.”

Before the storm hit the staff at Chase reached out to their neighbors offering assistance getting people prepared.

“My staff and I helped Marianne at Home Kingdom get all of her stock out of her store Sunday night,” she said. “Thank God we did. She could have lost everything.”

The flood from Sandy damaged carpets, walls, furniture and electronics in the Chase branch on Main Street. At this point she doesn’t have an estimate of how much the repairs will cost; she’s waiting for estimates. The bank will take care of fixing everything up so they can get back to business, according to Festa.

“They are trying to get it done quickly,” she said.

Festa also works with Guardians of Rescue, a pet rescue organization and said that if anyone needed any pet or people supplies, they can contact her as well.

I've missed you, Meredith. You're my "friend" at Chase (Manhattan)!
