Commack Construction Firm To Build Brooklyn Bridge Park Pedestrian Bridge

Kelco Construction, Inc. awarded $5.2 million contract to build the 396-foot-long pedestrian bridge.

A Commack-based construction company has been chosen to construct a pedestrian bridge between Brooklyn Bridge Park and the adjacent Squibb Park, according to a report from thelmagazine.com.

Kelco Construction. Inc., a firm located at 40 Austin Blvd., was awarded a $5.2 million contract to build a 396-foot-long pedestrian bridge. Construction is expected to begin next month and the project is slated for completion in Fall 2012. 

In addition to the footbridge, Kelco received a $19.2 million contract from the Brooklyn Bridge Park Corporation to build out the Pier 5 section of the park, including three multi-use turf sports fields and a playground.
