Commack Hairstylists to Cut, Contribute to a Cure for Cancer

Barbara Ross Salon to hold haircutting event benefitting the American Cancer Society on Oct. 28.

Commack hairstylists will line up to give hair cuts and styles to benefit charity to close out Breast Cancer Awareness month.

The Barbara Ross Salon on Jericho Tunpike will be hosting on Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Hair stylists will give 100 percents of all proceeds on haircuts and blowouts to the American Cancer Society.

said the day has become an annual event in the salon over the last 10 years.

"I think everyone knows someone affected by breast cancer," Ross said. "It seems to be a good cause as there's so much of it on Long Island."

The salon owner said her own sister-in-law battled breast cancer, having a strong impact on her own life. She's also had a number of clients who have fought or battled cancer sit down her chair for a haircut or styling.

The fund raising event will have $20 for wet hair cuts, $30 for hair cut and styles. Appointments can be made by calling 631-499-8199 but walk-ins are welcome. There will also be donated food, music and raffle off gift baskets donated by other local businesses including neighbor Hand & Stone Massage.

Barbara Ross Salon started its fund raising mission earlier this month by offering pink hair extensions for hope at $10 a piece. All proceeds from the hair extensions will also be donated.

I know exactly what she's about and that's why I'm trying to spread the word. She confronts theRead More lies and the deceit in the Affordable Care Act. And that needs to be brought to the forefront
