Commack McDonald's is Holiday Food Donation Center

Items can be dropped off at the fast food chain for Long Island families in need.

Residents can help a local family in need this holiday season by donating non-perishable food items to Island Harvest at McDonald’s, located on Vanderbilt Parkway in Commack

According to Island Harvest, more than 300,000 Long Islanders, including 110,000 children face the risk of going hungry each day, and the holidays present a larger burden; forcing families to choose between a warm holiday meal and a gift from Santa. For the fourth year in a row, McDonald’s has lent all of its Long Island locations, including Commack, as donation centers for Island Harvest Food Bank.

“As one of the largest and most recognizable franchises on Long Island, we greatly appreciate McDonald’s participation in our Turkey and Trimmings Collection Campaign,” Randi Shubin Dresner, president and CEO of Island Harvest, said in a press release. “With this expanded reach and visibility, Island Harvest will be able to provide more families with a nutritious holiday meal.”
