Edward Alan Big & Tall Continues to Grow

Store temporarily relocates while it undergoes renovations to provide additional floor space, bring in new merchandise.

A Commack mens' clothing store is continue to grow and re-invent itself after more than 20 years serving the local community.

has temporarily relocated within the Mayfair Shopping Center as its main storefront undergoes renovations this week. Alan Schlosser, president of Edward Alan Big & Tall, said with a freshly signed lease agreement, it was time for a new look.

"We want a new feeling, a more contemporary feeling, and we’re looking to make better use of our space," Schlosser said. "The open space plan will allow us to expand. We'll be bringing in more merchandise."

Edward Alan has been located in the Mayfair Shopping Center, serving men in need of larger clothing sizes, for more than 20 years. Schlosser said he just renegotiated his contract with the shopping center's landlord to renew for another 10 years.

"The store was very nice as it was, but if we have another 10 years it was time to spruce it up," he said.

Edward Alan began renovating its space three weeks ago, but construction hit a tipping point that cause the store to temporarily move into the old Talbot's storefront. Schlosser said the store should be back at its normal space within a week, but said fulll renovations won't be complete until mid-May.

With the new layout and increased space, Schlosser said he plans to start carrying more merchandise including a "value-priced' line of clothing that's more affordable for customers, given the current economy.

"In this economy, we need to address more popular price points for our clients. We are trying to expand our offerings for shoppers," the president said.

He expects to host a grand opening for the newly renovated Edward Alan in mid- to late-May.
