Graffiti, Grime Mar Empty Lot [Empty in Commack]

Do you remember what was at 6228 Jericho Turnpike? See what it has become.

Over the past few months we've profiled a selection of empty properties in Commack and while some eagerly await a new tenant, others are in desperate need of repair.  The one we spotlight today is drawing attention for all the wrong reasons.

The abandoned lot and building at 6228 Jericho Turnpike stand out from the surroundings. A largely vacant overgrown lot seems deserted compared to the surrounding storefronts that are busy with the movements of traffic.

The once white walls of the building attract negative attention for the bright red graffiti spraypainted across it, sometimes depicting questionable images and words.

Any driver who attempts to use the property's driveway might be shocked to find evidence someone may have either taken to squatting on the property or using it as a garbage dump, as a large white mattress and dozens of food wrappers have been thrown there.

A discarded sign promises "Shopping Center Coming Soon! New Retail Stores." But there is no sign of construction or life  on this stretch of Jericho Turnpike.
