Local Eateries Kick Off Dine With Wine Week

Foodies can eat three-course meals at 25 participating restaurants for $25; $5 first glass of wine.

This week, the Greater Smithtown Chamber of Commerce is kicking off a fall restaurant week with a new twist.

Through Sept. 25, Dine with Wine week offers local foodies the chance to eat three-course meals for $25 at participating restaurant. Those ordering off the price-fixed menu can get their first glass of wine for $5.

Barbara Franco, executive director of the Greater Smithtown Chamber of Commerce, said this if the first time the chamber has held a fall restaurant week and paired a price-fixed menu with a drink offer.

"We thought we’d jump start the fall by getting everyone back from school, back from vacation to get eating out in Smithtown," Franco said.

Patrick Miele, manager of Butera's in Smithtown, said he expects Dine with Wine will entice new customers to try his restaurant.

"It brings new and different people that perhaps wouldn’t go out to dinner, it makes it reasonable for people to go out. For us, it brings other people in that perhaps maybe wouldn’t come in durung these hard economic times," Miele said.

Butera's will offer patrons the choice of nine entrees - ranging from pork or chicken to baked pasta - with a choice of appetizer and dessert.

Butera's is also one of 20 restaurants featured that also participated in the chamber's third annual restaurant week in March.

"Three-quarters of our restaurants are returning again, they are very successful with restaurant week," Franco said. "They were anxious to be a part of Dine with Wine."

Sal Coppola, owner of Villa Sorrento in St. James, said his restaurant will use the week to feature some of its best dishes for new customers, including the pistachio encrusted salmon.

"Patrons get a great value and a chance to try a lot of different things because they get the appetizers and the main course and dessert for a relatively inexpensive price. We get a chance to show off the inside of the restaurant if they’ve never been here, our friendly staff and our good, quality food," Coppola said.

He has participated in six restaurant weeks across Long Island.

Among the newcomers joining the slate for Dine with Wine is Ciro's, with locations in Hauppauge and Kings Park, which will be offering a special menu.

"Special entrees include chicken Sorrentino and salmon Luciano. The meal includes and appetizer and dessert," said Matt Acerno, owner/manager of Ciro's.
