Lowe's Taking Shape in Commack

Construction of a Lowe's Home Improvement store, where Commack Multiplex Cinemas used to be, is quickly taking shape.

The walls and foundation appear to be nearly complete for the home improvement store, which sits on 20-acres of land, is expected to open in November.

After 30 years in business, the Commack Multiplex Cinemas was sold to Lowe's in 2010 for a reported $13 million. The theater officially shut down in September of 2011.

Aurora Contractors, Inc., which also built the Tanger Outlets at the Arches in Deer Park, is handling construction.
