New Thrift Store Partners with Big Brothers, Sisters of LI

Savers, which opens next Thursday, will pay the nonprofit for items donated.

Savers thrift store, which will hold its grand opening for its Commack location next Thursday, is helping residents reach children in need through a partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island.

When members of the Commack community donate, the goods not only get a second life, but are also turned into revenue for the organization that works to improve the quality of life for children facing adversity. Savers pays Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island for every item donated, even if the item doesn’t sell.

“We’ve partnered with Savers since 1997 and we’re thrilled to expand our relationship with the new Commack opening,” said Mark Cox, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island. “The money we receive is so important to benefitting the youth of Long Island, so we encourage everyone in the community get in touch with us and schedule a donation pick-up or drop off their gently used items at the store’s on-site Community Donation Center.”

“We’re very excited to open our fourth store in Long Island,” said John Catarelli, the new store manager. “The support we’re able to provide the local community makes us proud, and we can’t wait to welcome both new and familiar customers to the store and introduce them to all our great deals offered throughout the store.”

The Commack store and Community Donation Center, located at 755 Larkfield Road, will be open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, customers may contact the store directly at (631) 462-1268 or visit www.Savers.com.
