Owner: Moe's Southwest Grill Will Open in March

Construction to begin in December.

The planned for the Target Shopping Center on Veteran's Memorial Highway is awaiting approval on permits before construction can begin, according to owner Michael Walsh.

Walsh, who will be operating the restaurant with his cousin, Ryan Monahan, said he expects to have the final permit in mid-November, which would allow construction to begin December 1. He said the construction should take three months, the amount of time it took to put up his other five locations on Long Island.

The opening was originally projected for January but permit requirements necessitated a later date, said Brian Berkery of Creative Vibe Advertising, Moe's local ad agency.

Walsh called the space an "empty vanilla box"—it is simply four walls and a concrete floor. This means the location will require much more work than one in Massapequa which is set to open in February, as that site used to be a restaurant and already has proper accomodations such as bathrooms, plumbing, drains, sprinklers and air conditioning.

Moe's will be occupying the space that used to be a Hollywood Video. The adjacent took half that property and Walsh has the other half.
