Red Mango Coming to Mayfair

The frozen yogurt shop is preparing to move into the Commack shopping center soon.

Rejoice, frozen yogurt fans. Red Mango is coming to Commack.

The store will take over Yogurt Couture, which closed last year.

Renovations for the frozen yogurt franchise are already underway at 2050 Jericho Turnpike within the Mayfair Shopping Center. Workers were seen Thursday cleaning up the space and getting it ready to open for the summer season.

Red Mango was granted a building permit from the Town of Smithtown on March 25 to make interior alterations to the 875-square-foot property, as well as plumbing and electrical improvements.

According to the company's website, the Commack Red Mango will one of the store's self-serve locations. There are about 30 Red Mango locations on Long Island including in Hauppauge, Smithtown and Huntington.

The Mayfair Red Mango will have to compete with Yogurt Crazy, which is located less than a mile away on Jericho Turnpike.

Don't be so quick to count them out. This is no mom and pop yogurt shop. These folks have 30 locations under their belt, so I'm thinking they may last a while.

I'd much rather have some good, truly natural ice cream.

I agree with you pbug56...People are all brainwashed into thinking yogurt is better for you. It's loaded with sugar, and people think that because it's "low fat" they can eat more of it. (look at regular soda, it's fat free and loaded with sugar). I'd rather have the real stuff.
