Help Wanted: Where the Jobs Are in Commack

A guide to locations hiring this summer.

College and high school students will find many businesses in the area hiring for the summer–and beyond. Here are some locations hiring in Commack and some of their benefits.

The town lies on several main roads–from Jericho Turnpike to Commack Road to Veteran's Memorial Highway–and all of these roads have one major thing in common: retail locations. Many of these locations, including The Home Depot, Macy's and Sears are hiring college and high school students, as well as local residents.

Here's the several of the retailers hiring in the area:

The Home Depot offer benefits and paid vacation as well as training to their new employees. Checkers and Boston Market offer positions for students that may not have a full resume and don't have much available time, or work experience.

Barbara, one of Macys hiring managers said that "you don't need that much experience to start working for us" and  "the pay is minimum wage for starting sales positions."

A manager at a local deli said that job seekers should look "presentable" when applying for positions. Other businesses in the area asked that job seekers cover tattoos and excess piercings.

Some applications can be done on site, while others need to be completed online. Check with individual retailers for their policies.
