Crime Log: Teen Arrested on Meth Charge

Damien Johnson, 18, from Dix Hills, was arrested in Commack on a charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. Police said Johnson was being interviewed after a crash at the intersection of Commack Road and Vanderbilt Parkway in Commack on March 22 at about 9:30 p.m. when officials discovered he was carrying methamphetamine.

$2.2M in Aid Restored for Commack Schools in Final State Budget

With state Assembly members poised to vote on a final budget on Thursday, state leaders announced Wednesday school aid totals for the 2013-2014 budget year, with a boost of $2.2 million more in aid expected to Commack School District over the governor's proposal.

Winter Break to Last 2 Weeks Next School Year

Winter Break will last two full weeks next year, according to the Commack school calendar, which the district recently posted on its website.

According to the calendar, the break will last from Dec. 23 until Jan. 3.
